Counting stitches
I’ve been joining Ferme Marie in the knitting frenzy, although I’m not yet working on Christmas presents. But! My cute, warm and cuddly black shrug “Dark Whispers” now has a back of 26″ total, which means that I’m 1 or 2 pattern repetitions away from knitting the sleeve. I just broke into my sixth skein, which means that I’ll probably have about one skein left when the whole thing is done. Which also means that I will have knitted about one kilometre of yarn :|
I’m a bit hesitant of calculating the number of stitches that went into the whole shrug, because it’s just guessing right now. But I’ll be able to tell you when I’m done knitting the body.
For those of you whom have made it this far: I have a little game for you while you wait for pictures. The one whom guesses the right amount of stitches or gives me the closest value, wins a pair of socks for Christmas! Just reply to the post and please leave your e-mail address so I can tell you that you’ve won. Here’s some numbers if you’re feeling brave (or like to crunch numbers):
- one pattern repetition is good for 14 rows
- 1 row equals 152 stitches
- one pattern repetition is good for about 1.5″
- I need 28″ of back in total
- I have cast on 64 stitches for the bottom of the sleeve
- the top of the sleeve measures 90 stitches
- I had to increase 2 stitches every 8th row for the sleeve
- the sleeve measures 22″ in total
- the back is one big rectangle (no increases/decreases)
- and remember a shrug has two sleeves :D
There, with that you should be able to calculate a rough guess of stitches. Now give me some numbers :D :D :D
*edit* I’m announcing the amount of stitches by the end of next week, so I’d like some entries by then ;-)

Als ik het goed begrijp moet ik tellen hoeveel steken je in totaal gebreid hebt????
yes, dat is exact wat je moet tellen :-)
Hmmm…een uitdaging
